The government warns <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-10-27\/bid-to-double-wa-renewable-energy-output-amid-price-rise-warning\/107313754\">business energy prices could rise 89% by 2032<\/a> without the build-out.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experts warn the federal government\u2019s gas reservation scheme, which would make east coast exporters set aside up to 20% of production for the domestic market, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-10-27\/experts-warn-of-santos-gas-reservation-scheme-loopholes\/107309946\">has loopholes that could let Santos meet its obligations with \u201cpaper\u201d supplies<\/a>. Gas producers argue the scheme goes too far and could raise prices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Amid growing community backlash in inner Sydney and Melbourne, the Albanese government will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afr.com\/politics\/federal\/labor-to-ban-ai-data-centres-in-suburban-australia-20261029-p618xn\">ban AI data centres from being built near homes and recreational facilities<\/a>.
